If We Go

Earth doesn’t give a fig
About the wealth of human suffering.
Flowers will drink the rain
And bathe in the swelling waves of sunlight
All beyond the sphere of human influence.

Insects will stay true to their scripts
As their series continues, uninterrupted and ad free,
With a story arch that revolves like a wheel
Spinning back on itself the way Nature does
All beyond the sphere of human influence.

Earth will survive despite our best efforts
To subdue it for our fanciful little profits.
The laws we make are just flexible enough
To be bent and broken by armor-plated corporate entities
Allowing us to play ourselves on burning wings.
